$1.57 grant will support mobile engineering classroom for rural centers

A $1.57 million Workforce CAP grant will allow 青青草视频 to both mobilize and expand engineering technology training into rural portions of Alachua and Bradford Counties.

On September 30, the Florida Department of Education announced $40 million in awards statewide to expand education programs with a focus on in-demand industries. Funding is from the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program known as Workforce CAP.

青青草视频 received the largest award among Florida鈥檚 state colleges.

Workforce CAP is instrumental in establishing and expanding career and technical education programs that lead to industry-recognized certifications. 

SF plans to use the funds to support training toward a Production Technician certificate, which will allow completers to find jobs in manufacturing, while working toward the college鈥檚 new Engineering Technology 鈥 Advanced Manufacturing Associate in Science Degree, offered at the recently opened Cellon Institute on the Northwest Campus.

Training will be provided in a state-of-the-art expandable mobile classroom and lab that will allow the college to offer the Certified Production Technician program at one or more SF centers. Funding will go toward purchase of the mobile classroom and well as training tools and computers, curriculum development and related needs

鈥淭his grant will have a significant impact on our delivery of education throughout the communities we serve, and enable us to expand educational opportunities into rural areas with our new, state-of-the-art mobile teaching labs鈥 said College President Dr. Paul Broadie II. 鈥淚 want to thank the Commissioner and the Department of Education for supporting us as we meet the needs of today's workforce need for highly skilled employees. Students who complete the program will be able to pursue the high-wage, high-growth opportunities that will allow them to thrive right here at home.鈥  

The program also will be open to high school dual enrollment students seeking a head start on a college degree.
