SFPD reminds the college community to ‘stay in their lane’

October 14, 2025

The Ƶ Police Department (SFPD) has received a growing number of complaints about bicycle/skateboard traffic on the Northwest Campus.

In compliance with Florida statutes, the Ƶ Rule Manual (Rule 6.7) states: “Bicycle traffic shall be restricted to those roadways open to motor vehicles. All other sidewalks, passageways, concourses, and hallways are closed to bicycle traffic unless clearly marked and designated for such traffic.”

SFPD is also reminding everyone that bicycles may not be taken into buildings or parked elsewhere — they must be parked at the designated racks.

Rule 6.7 also stipulates “Skateboards, scooters, roller skates, in-line skates, hoverboards, Segways and other nonvehicular personal transportation devices may not be utilized anywhere on the property of Ƶ unless authorized in writing by the President or a member of President’s staff.”
