SF faculty 'pinned' in ceremony recognizing commitment to advanced teaching excellence

November 12, 2025

青青草视频 (SF) faculty, staff and administration recently gathered in the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence to recognize a group of SF educators going above and beyond in their professional development in an Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) pinning ceremony.

ACUE is a national professional organization dedicated to improving student success through high-quality instruction training and advocacy. Fifteen SF faculty completed ACUE certification, the only credential that is endorsed by the American Council on Education.

The two levels of certification focus on core, research-based practices that improve student engagement and learning. The first seeks to build a strong foundation in effective teaching that may be applied right away in any classroom. The second, higher-level credential, is for instructors who have already earned the ACUE certificate, and it also requires faculty to complete pathways for effective teaching practices in both traditional and online settings.

SF President Paul Broadie II praised the honorees for actively seeking out the latest innovations in academic instruction to give SF students "the best educational experience available."

"It's important to celebrate the work (faculty) is doing," Broadie said. "You're imparting your knowledge to our students, and you don't have to do things like this 鈥 further refining your skills, grabbing these best practices and bringing them back to the institution. This is the first time we're doing this, but not the last."

ACUE Academic Director Barbara Rodriguez, Santa Fe's representative, said her organization was founded in 2014 because faculty have a more direct impact on student success than any other group on campus, meriting an investment in the ongoing improvement and advancement of teaching techniques and excellence.

"As Dr. Broadie shared, we already know you're exceptional faculty," Rodriguez said. "Knowing that many Florida students attend Santa Fe with the goal of going to the University of Florida, we know there's a very high bar for preparing them for that level of academic rigor."
