September 29, 2025
ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ Athletics formally inducted four players — Roderick Emanuel, Arianna Emanuel-Wright, Alonzo Hird and Tabitha Odabe — and its 2016 Saints Volleyball team into their Hall of Fame Saturday, September 20. The Hall of Fame induction festivities were kickstarted with a Santa Fe Athletics Alumni meet and greet at Hotel Indigo in Gainesville.
Roderick "Rod" Emanuel (2007-2009) was a two-time All-Conference and All-FCSAA basketball selection, averaging more than 15 points per game in both seasons. Emanuel helped his team to a perfect 10-0 regular season conference championship his freshman season, and conference tournament title his sophomore year, finishing 18-3 in two years for all conference games. Emanuel went on to play at Middle Tennessee State University.
Arianna Emanuel-Wright (2015-2017) ended her career as one of the most decorated players in Santa Fe basketball. In her sophomore season, Emanuel-Wright was named Second Team All-American as well as All-FCSAA on the season and tournament while averaging over 20 points per game. She continued her career at the University of North Florida, where she became the first player in program history to be named to the ASUN All-Academic Team. Emanuel-Wright was inducted into the FCSAA Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
Alonzo Hird (2002-2004) helped Saints basketball to a state tournament appearance in 2003, then signed with Eastern Kentucky University shortly thereafter. Hird is second all-time with 511 rebounds, and he played professionally in Germany, Slovakia, and Australia before returning to Kentucky to coach high school basketball.
Tabitha Odabe (2015-2017) spent two years with the Saints and had very little basketball experience going into her first season. She spent most of her freshman season developing into a dominant player who led a fantastic sophomore campaign. Odabe holds the record for most blocks for both a game and season, and she finished her career in the top 25 in rebounding. After Santa Fe, she transferred to Flagler College, where she was a team captain, two-time Peach Belt Defensive Player of the Year, and Player of the Year.
The 2016 Santa Fe Volleyball team had an historic postseason run, reaching the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history. They ended their season ranked No. 4 in the nation and collected many other national awards. Led by Head Coach Nick Cheronis (AVCA Southeast Region Coach of the Year), the roster included Caylee Cox, Amanda Torres, Meraiah Hill, Nadine Williams (first ever SF Volleyball All-American), Meghan Thomson, Sheyanne Sullivan, Kasey Valentin, Kaylee Herring, LaRija Henry, Ashton Marshall, Avarie Lewis, Courtney King, Clare Donegan, Sterling Williamson, Meagan Irish, Tina Mayberry and Ashley Lanoue.
