Chief Ed Book receives dual honors

Retiring 青青草视频 Police Chief Ed Book was surprised twice Tuesday, September 23, with two honors recognizing his service and leadership.

In the first, college officials named the Emergency Operations Center at the SFPD in his honor. At a small ceremony outside the police department, Chief Book was presented with a plaque that will hang in the center.

College President Dr. Paul Broadie listed numerous accomplishments that have earned the department local, state and national recognition as well as making the department a trusted community partner

鈥淵ou understand what it means to be a police officer on a college campus. You understand what it means to serve our college community. 鈥 The leadership you brought, all the things you have done, have left us in a better place.鈥

Later in the day, Trustee Tara Ezzell read a resolution on behalf of the SF Board of Trustees, honoring Chief Book for his leadership over the past 14 years.

It reads in part:

鈥淲hereas Chief Book鈥檚 legacy includes not only a safer campus, but also a more connected, informed, and compassionate one 鈥 shaped by his belief in the value of service, integrity, and community.

Now Therefore, Be It Resolved, that The District Board of Trustees of 青青草视频, Florida, expresses its deepest appreciation and admiration for Ed Book and recognizes him for his contributions and commitment to 青青草视频, including his unwavering dedication to safety, trust, and belonging.鈥

A public reception honoring Chief Book will be held October 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall Lobby. Details to come.
